History of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School

Initially catering to just about 50 little kids, this soon-to-be-school was formerly named Lourdes Learning Center (LOLEC) and was administered by the Basic Ecclesial Community (BEC) leaders of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish from the year 1996 to the first Quarter of the year 2000. It was meant to be a day care center giving informal classes and Christian Catholic catechesis to children and parents who are from the parish. LOLEC was then     transformed by Rev. Fr. Albert N. Delvo, who came in as the new parish priest of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish on January 1, 2000, to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School. It was then in January 2000 that OLLCS came to being as a formal institution of basic education and as an arm of evangelization of the Catholic Church. Then operating with   government permits and ultimately with government recognition.

Today, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School (OLLCS) is a complete school for boys and girls from the pre-nursery to fourth year high school. Last School Year, 2007-2008 we had the first High School graduating class. Located at 1117 Petunia cor. Chrysanthemum Sts., Area B, Camarin,    Caloocan City, the school has 22 standard classrooms, 2 air-conditioned faculty rooms, air-conditioned library, air-conditioned computer laboratory, science laboratory, H.E. Room, vocational shop, modest canteen, playground with adequate playing facilities and cottages for parents’ and students’ use. Last SY 2009-2010, the high school building was built in La Forteza Subdivision to provide a more convenient and conducive place for the learners. The same year when the Department of Education awarded the Government Recognition to OLLCS High School Department.

Over the period of twelve (12) years, OLLCS as a Catholic educational institution has been offering quality education and formation in faith and values and initial initiation/training in information technology to students at very affordable costs. It serves as an educational institution and an evangelization arm of the Diocese of Novaliches. Its twelve (12) years of operation has been a success story as it has been serving enrollees not only from the parish but also nearby parishes as well. Worth-mentioning is the fact that it has been giving scholarship to 115 pupils every school year and it has also created many job opportunities and enabled the small business and the vehicle drivers in the area to augment their income.

Under zealous and committed school officials and with competent, dedicated and good-looking faculty members and staff, the future prospects for this young school are positive and bright indeed.
